With a population of 522,500, Brampton is Canada's eleventh largest city, and is known across the country as "Flower City" because of its thriving greenhouse industry. A long time leading destination for immigration, especially for South Asians, Brampton's population is expected to continue growing to the point where it will leapfrog past Hamilton and Quebec City by 2017. Outfront Media's fertile Poster plant in this northwest area of the Toronto CMA can help businesses bloom!
A great deal of Brampton's development as a city can be attributed to its tremendous infrastructure. It is served primarily by Highway 410, which runs north-south through Brampton's middle, as well as Highway 407 running along the southern portion of the city. Steeles Avenue is by far the busiest thoroughfare, and also connects Brampton with the City of Toronto. Along with the Region of Peel, the Brampton Library and Civic Centre, it forms an important hub that it visited by more than 12 million people annually.
Loblaw Companies, the country's largest food retailer, has its headquarters in Brampton. Other corporations who employ significant numbers of Bramptonians include Rogers Communications, Chrysler Canada (via its Brampton Assemby Plant), Canadian Tire, and Coca-Cola Enterprises.
